Aria di Mare – Typical Italian Products

From grandma’s basket to the online shop

Aria di Mare – Typical Italian Products is is much more than a simple e-commerce where you can shop online: it is a three-generation story that has its roots in Molfetta, a beautiful town in the province of Bari, between the countryside rich in majestic olive trees and the Apulian sea.

It was 80 years ago when our grandmother Lucrezia, almost a child then, was introduced by her mother and sisters to the art of preserves, vegetables in oil and typical Apulian taralli.

She soon learned to distinguish the flavour of the “new” oil from the more aged one and the scent of each variety of cultivar, and became the queen of the family kitchen, excelling in the ability to choose and dose the right oil based on the dish to be prepared. From the Apulian focaccia to orecchiette with turnip greens, passing through the eggplant parmigiana and fried courgette Lucrezia was unrivalled, and it is still like this today.

She used what our countryside, caressed by the mild and benevolent breeze of the Adriatic Sea, offered her in abundance: the green gold of Molfetta – our excellent,  monocultivar Apulian extra virgin olive oil, obviously a farm to table product – and the seasonal vegetables.

Thanks to the skilled hands of our grandmother first, and then of our mother, since we were children we have learned to know and love the true Apulian flavours very well.

On our family table we have always had the chance to taste the extra virgin olive oil, rich in polyphenols, Coratina or Peranzana monocultivar, and the excellent vegetables in oil and preserves,  locally produced: from olives to dried tomatoes, turnips, “pric o prac” peppers and so on, all rigorously seasoned and preserved with Apulian extra virgin olive oil.

.In those days, before going to the beach, we always passed, riding our bikes, under the house of our grandmother Lucrezia. Leaning over her balcony, using a wicker basket, she “supplied” us with the tastiest sandwiches in the world: “If the oil is good …you’ll go far!”, she used to tell us, joking.

“If the oil is good
you’ll go far”

We went away happy and proud of the greedy “booty” received as a gift from grandmother Lucrezia, and after a thousand baths and games in the sea, caressed by the salty air and hungry, we ate those sandwiches carefully prepared just for us.

The mythical years of childhood and of the “basket” dropped with love, every day, by our grandmother Lucrezia, are for us a source of daily inspiration, so a few years ago, “Aria di Mare” was born: our small family shop, whose name brings together the initials of the names of our daughters, Arianna and Martina, in which we offer our rigorous selection of 100% Apulian, farm–to-table agri-food products.

Our oil, vegetable in oil, preserves and taralli are loved and looked for in Puglia for their unrivalled genuine and tasty flavours which are now available online too, thanks to our online shop, shop online Aria di Mare.
